March, 2006 -- the Society learned that they were approved for funding of a $35,000 grant for purchase and transportation of the engine to Century. The proof will come after July 1 of 2006 when the first monies should be distributed by the State of Florida.
In the meantime, preparations are being made to prepare a place to place the engine for its restoration. And new fundraising ideas are taking shape to help with a covering and the other things related to restoration.
So the work is not yet done! More needs to be done, and we need your help. Please contact the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society and offer your assistance, whether it's financial or labor or materials.
