May Day 1947 scene

May Day, 1948 - This skit involved Jerry Simmons as the "doctor" and Sonny Jeter as the "worker". The "nurse" is not known. The skit started with the doctor and nurse coming out to the edge of one of the rings drawn on the playground. All of a sudden, the "worker," with blackface makeup on, comes running from the crowd, holding his hand, hollering, "Docta, Docta, Docta! Oh please, massa Docta, I done cut my arm!"

Of course, the doctor and nurse bandage the worker's arm and send him on his way. The skit illustrated that the hospital and doctors located near the mill improved their ability to be available at a moment's notice for even serious injuries.
